Shades of Gray Productions is a rag-tag collaboration of miscreants and unpaid interns with lofty goals, big ideas and all the determination, work-ethic, and talent necessary to birth them into reality.

Led by business-minded visionary and film-school dropout, David Gray, Shades of Gray's approach to the ski video industry is not unlike Captain Steve Zissou's approach to aquatic life documentaries. Since 2002, Shades of Gray has released three increasingly well-received ski movies. The first two of these, which bare the name of the bus that transported the team on many of its trips, were produced out of Dave's living room.

For its third release, Worland Warriors III: Enter the Worland, Shades of Gray decided to up the ante and do it right. Now operating out of an office in Boulder, Colorado with a full-time staff, S.o.G. divides its resources between videography-for-hire, web/graphic design-for-hire, and creating its annual ski videos.

Chief Executive Officer /
Team Manager

On hiatus from his career as a singer/songwriter, David Gray has chosen to explore video production as a secondary creative outlet.

Dustin Huth

about pic 2

Senior Copy Editor /
Senior Project Manager

In his role as Senior Copy Editor, Dustin is a self-described word ninja. He verbs words deadlily through the air like Chinese stars with laser-sighted precision. Also, he has a propensity for inventing new words (like, "deadlily") whenever components of traditional vernacular are too cluttered by connotations that compromise the intended meaning. Despite his creative nature, his inventions are not crafted blindly, as he can often be heard reciting the mantra, "one must first understand the rules before one can break them well." He graduated from the University of Colorado in 2001 with a BA in English/Creative Writing, and a Minor in EPO Biology. Dustin has been published in many fine publications, and his writing has gained him much notoriety amongst the drinking classes, thanks mostly to his poem, Two Drinks, Too Drunk, which was run in Modern Drunkard Magazine in 2005.

A true Gemini, Dustin's anal-retentive evil twin rears its ruggedly handsome head for the other half of the work week when he fills the role of Project Manager. In his previous position as Training Specialist with Bonfils Blood Center, Dustin found himself to be innately adept at Process Design and Implementation. He has worked tirelessly to transfer his understanding of streamlined procedures, and standardized project protocol, from its application in an FDA regulated industry, to the relatively laid-back atmosphere of a ski video production company. In February of 2007, he completed the Project Management Institute's certification course, and is well on his way to being able to tag some letters behind his last name.
